Start of the research about the high quality mung bean sprout

The bean sprout under the surface about one week after the seeding.
Natural bean sprout under the surface. Sweet and tasty.
The bean sprout whose situation is white radish sprouts growing out on another field.

`Start of the research about the high quality mung bean sprout`
It was the harvest season in fall when we began to go to the local in China for purchasing.
Several years later we came to see entire production process such as the harvest season in spring, the weeding season, the harvest season, the sorting situation etc. We tried to turn up bean sprouts which had just grown out under the surface about one week after the seeding.
We were impressed by thick, white, sleek, and pure natural bean sprouts with short roots. Because conventional bean sprouts grown in the chamber were thin with long roots and many fibrous roots.
We accidentally took in them after clearing away the mud and they were " crispy ", sweet and tasty.
We worked on the research of the high quality bean sprout in order to reproduce natural tasty one in the manmade chamber. Finally we could work up.

Attempt at growing down the mung bean domestically and offshore

" We want to produce bean sprouts used domestic material on a commercial basis! " Any companies have never done that before.

In 1996 we tried to grow down the domestic mung bean at Hokkaido Obihiro Agricultural Technology Center.
We put test growing in operation at Hokkaido Obihiro Agricultural Technology Center.
Red beans and mung beans are prtrayed in the left screen.
The near side of the right screen is the test of the mung bean depending on each product class and locality. The right side of it is red beans growing steadily.

We breed the mung bean on an agreement at the contract farms in Obihiro-shi, Hokkaido.

1996 to 1997
We tried to grow down the domestic mung bean with the collaboration of the agricultural industrial department of farmers cooperative in Asyoro-cho Asyoro-gun, Hokkaido.

In the same year, the agricultural industrial department of farmers cooperative in Asyoro-cho Asyoro-gun asked three farms of youth group to do the test growing of the mung bean at uncombined fields.

We had tried to grow down the domestic mung bean in Nishikata-machi, Tochigi for two years since 1995.
Due to higher accumulated temperature than Hokkaido, they grew steadily and produced berries. However they fell down on the eve of the harvest by the typhoon in September. Then the hull touched the soil and beans soaked up the moisture. Finally they were moldy and we could not harvest them.

As the result of doing the test growing with keeping the data, we find the difficulty in harvesting the high quality green bean inside Japan. Because Japan does not have the right conditions such as the lack of day length and accumulated temperature or the amount of rainfall at the picking season in fall, compared to Jilin and Heilongjiang in China.

The clustered farmers on the car rallied around and done the farm work.
We gather four to five hundred people every day and eradicate weeds in the season.
Organic---the manual labor without pesticide
The work continues until night due to terrific heat.

Nei Mongol Newspaper in China placed our company.
Local people told us that the newspaper of Nei Mongol placed our company. So we looked for the paper although one week had already passed.

The paper said as below.

The development of organic food has a future.
This year UEHARAEN in Dalian will invest 1 million yuan ( about 15 million yen ) in UEHARAEN Farm and grow down mung bean in 2000 Mu areas.
¦1 Mu equals 1000 square meter.

UEHARAEN always goes to the various locations of all the countries of the world on the lookout for the blue-ribbon quality.
Currently the mung bean in Baicheng area of Jilian, China, which is the major production region of the mung bean seed, premiums the blue-ribbon quality. Its content of the protein substance is great and it becomes tasty bean sprout.
The area is also suited to the farming without agricultural chemicals and with low agricultural chemicals due to less vermination.
UEHARAEN came to buy in the top quality seed from the contract farm in Baicheng area directly based the office to Dalian.
Furthermore sorting factory in Dalian sends the blue-ribbon seeds of even size, whose germination rate is nearly 100 percent, to UEHARAEN headquarters after the strict sorting operation.

Other attempts
EQuality test in Dalian sorting park
EQuality survey in the quality control room and UEHARAEN headquarters

Final Result
At first UEHARAEN worked on the research of the mung bean seed as the raw material in order to seek for the blue-ribbon quality bean sprout.
We learned eighteen sorts of the breed and made a collection of them.
The research of the breed which becomes tasty bean sprout, the test growing in the production region, and the breed improvementEEEThese activities will produce significant results after several years although it will take time.
EWe also sell mung bean seeds for the cooking and process or to bean sprout manufacturers, the same trade.
Please contact us for details.
( We provided our bean sprouts for food in summer to the Chinese Embassy in Japan. )
